TIBETAN SINGING BOWLS AND SOUND HEALING

The Rich History of Sound Healing and Tibetan Singing Bowls
Tibetan Singing Bowls come from an ancient lineage of vibrational, or sound healing, rooted in oriental medicine. Sound healing includes everything from Tibetan bowls, bells, drums and rattles, all of which use the preverbal power of sound to ignite a reintegration of the body, mind and spirit, and clear away stagnant energy standing in the way of optimum health.

According to Tibetan oral tradition, singing bowls have been used as healing instruments since the time of the historical Buddha Shakyamuni (560 – 480 B.C.). The singing bowl tradition was carried from India to Tibet, along with the spiritual teachings of the Buddha, by the great tantric master Padmasambhava in the 8th century A.D.

What are Tibetan Singing Bowls?
Tibetan Singing Bowls are resonant harmonic instruments used to invoke heightened states for both healing and mediation through their deep vibrational frequencies. The singing bowls produce a range of soothing sounds vibrating at frequencies that produce balance and alignment within the body through entraining the brainwaves to synchronize with the perfect resonance they produce. These frequencies work at a cellular level to realign any vibrations within the mind, body and spirit that may be pulsing disharmoniously or out of rhythm due to residual stagnated energy.

How Are They Used?
The singing bowls are gently struck to produce rich blend of harmonic overtones, which naturally bring forth a deep state of relaxation, equilibrium, and present moment awareness. These vibrations work to naturally balance the left and right hemispheres of the brain, and unlock the energy centers connected to intuition, creativity and flow.

What Benefits Do Tibetan Singing Bowls Have?
The harmonic frequencies produced by Tibetan Singing Bowls are an energetic medicine that aids in healing stress disorders, physical or emotional pain, depression, anxiety and most forms of discomfort within the body. In addition to their traditional usage for supporting meditation, Tibetan singing bowls are used for deep relaxation, stress reduction, holistic healing, chakra balancing, and stimulating the harmonious flow of Qi in the body. Meditating on the subtle sounds of the Tibetan singing bowl tunes one in to the universal sound that is always present for us to simply listen for and absorb.

Zoe’s Perspective on Tibetan Singing Bowls and Sound Medicine
“The rich sonic waves Tibetan Singing Bowls emit stirs something deep within us, and expands our ability to hear with much more than our ears. These waves work on a cellular level, asking our bodies to feel their sound, their frequencies, as much as we or more than we can take in with our ears alone. They invoke a sense of balance and unrestricted Qi flowing throughout the body.”

Zoe learned how to play the singing bowls in Nepal, their land of its origin in the Himalayas. She incorporates the healing sound of the bowls during healing treatments, and also offers them as an independent treatment for clients interested in exploring a deep healing journey guided primarily by sound.
“If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.”
